Tips for Preparing Your Home for the Super Bowl

super bowl watch partyAs the Patriots bring home the Lamar Hunt trophy for a second year in a row, New England football fans are preparing for the biggest game of the season, just a short two weeks away. Whether your team is in the Super Bowl or not, it’s always fun to head to or host a Super Bowl party with all of your friends and family members. The most stressful part is not the party itself but the process of getting your home ready for your guests. Follow these tips and you’ll be ready to host the biggest party of the year.

Determine Your Storage Needs

When you have any sort of company over your house the main focus is getting rid of all the clutter in the common spaces in your home. Allocate any storage to items that you have multiple of – children’s toys, electronics/clickers, mail, and other odds and ends that are bulky and wasting counter space. Once you have done so, consider what type of organizer you are and the needs of your family members. If you have children, open-top containers will work best for any toys and items they will need regular access to.

Get Your Rooms Ready

Once you’ve determined your storage needs, you’ll want to go through each room in your house starting with the entry way and organize each of the spaces.

ENTRY WAY

Having additional storage in your entry way is especially important as it will be where your guests enter through and take off their coats and shoes and place any personal items. If you don’t have a closet or entry way large enough for a clothing rack, consider placing affordable baskets in other easily accessible areas for guests to place their shoes, keys, and wallets.

LIVING ROOM

Once you make your way to the living room, make sure the television is working and already on the correct channel to eliminate fumbling through trying to find the game at kickoff. You’ll also want to prepare for extra seating to ensure guests have somewhere to sit and watch the game, even if it is on a few comfy floor pillows!

KITCHEN

Although your living room will be the main area of attraction during the game, the kitchen is where the food will be so it’s important to put as much time into the space as you do the “watch room.” Since kitchens get messy fast, you’ll want to spend the most time cleaning and organizing this area prior to your guests arriving. Use this as a time to clean out our cabinets and donate the items you no longer need or use and utilize this new space for any items clustering up the counter tops. Don’t forget to wipe down the counters and put out any utensils, drinkwear, plates, and napkins that will be needed during the game.

Utilize the Garage

If you have a garage and are able to utlize it during the game, we highly recommend you do so! It’ll keep the mess out of your house and will make clean up that much easier. If you’re going to utlize your garage for the Super Bowl, be certain your television can be connected in the space and get the game. If your garage is messy, this is the perfect time to purge it of the items you no longer need or use and incorporate various organization units to store seasonal clothing, sports equipment, tools and holiday decor.

Ask for Help

Preparing to host company at your home is a big task and no one is going to blame you for asking for help! Your friends and family members are going to be more than willing to help you set up, do an grocery shopping, and help you organize.
